Part 3 · Two-way Discussion
Discussion on Mental Health Awareness, Stress in Modern Society, and Coping Strategies
Trong Part 3, thí sinh cần thể hiện khả năng thảo luận trừu tượng ở góc độ xã hội, không chỉ kể trải nghiệm cá nhân. Hãy dùng các cụm như People generally..., In many countries..., It is often argued that... để mở rộng quan điểm.
Mỗi câu trả lời nên kéo dài 3–5 câu, bao gồm: (1) câu trả lời trực tiếp, (2) lý do hoặc ví dụ xã hội, (3) so sánh hoặc dự đoán, (4) kết luận ngắn.
Tránh chỉ kể chuyện cá nhân — hãy dùng People generally..., Previous generations....
Từ vựng: stigma (định kiến), normalise (bình thường hóa), psychological struggles (những khó khăn tâm lý), legitimate health concerns (vấn đề sức khỏe chính đáng).
Mental health has moved from the margins to the mainstream largely because of shifting social attitudes and greater public awareness. Previous generations often regarded psychological struggles as a private matter or even a sign of weakness, whereas contemporary societies increasingly frame them as legitimate health concerns. This shift has been accelerated by social media campaigns, celebrity disclosures, and workplace initiatives that normalise conversations about anxiety and depression. That said, greater openness does not necessarily mean better outcomes, as stigma still persists in many communities. Ultimately, the change reflects both genuine progress and ongoing tension between awareness and acceptance.
Dạng câu hỏi: So sánh quá khứ – hiện tại và phân tích bản chất.
Cách tiếp cận: Dùng On the one hand... On the other hand... để tạo cấu trúc cân bằng, sau đó kết luận bằng Consequently....
Từ vựng: information overload (quá tải thông tin), precarious employment (việc làm bấp bênh), blurring of work-life boundaries (ranh giới công việc – cuộc sống bị xóa nhòa), episodic (từng đợt).
On the one hand, modern life has reduced many physical hardships that previous generations faced, such as food insecurity and dangerous manual labour. On the other hand, it has introduced a set of chronic, less visible stressors — information overload, precarious employment, and the blurring of work-life boundaries. Whereas past stress was often episodic and tied to survival, contemporary stress tends to be continuous and psychological in nature. Social comparison amplified by digital platforms has added a further layer of pressure, particularly among younger adults. Consequently, the challenge today is less about eliminating stress than about managing it sustainably.
Dạng câu hỏi: Đánh giá quan điểm và đưa ra lập trường.
Cách tiếp cận: Thừa nhận mặt đúng của quan điểm, sau đó phản biện bằng bằng chứng xã hội. Dùng There is some truth to this claim, risks normalising, a political and cultural choice.
Từ vựng: fast-paced society (xã hội nhịp độ nhanh), social safety nets (mạng lưới an sinh xã hội), normalise (bình thường hóa), inevitable (không thể tránh khỏi).
It is often argued that stress is simply the price of living in a fast-paced society, and there is some truth to this claim. Deadlines, financial pressures, and constant connectivity do make stress a near-universal experience. However, describing it as unavoidable risks normalising a situation that is largely man-made and therefore changeable. Societies that invest in strong social safety nets, shorter working hours, and accessible mental health services tend to report lower stress levels. Therefore, while some stress may be inevitable, the scale of it is a political and cultural choice rather than a natural law.
Dạng câu hỏi: Dự đoán xu hướng tương lai (liệt kê + giải thích).
Cách tiếp cận: Nêu 1–2 xu hướng chính, dùng câu điều kiện loại 2 (If these tools were deployed...)
It seems plausible that mental health care will become more integrated into general healthcare and education over the coming decades. Two trends are likely to drive this shift: growing recognition of the economic cost of untreated mental illness, and advances in digital tools such as teletherapy and AI-assisted screening. If these tools are deployed equitably, they could widen access in underserved regions where specialists are scarce. That said, technology alone cannot substitute for human connection, and over-reliance on apps may trivialise complex conditions. Without deliberate regulation, the benefits could remain concentrated among those who are already advantaged.
Dạng câu hỏi: Đề xuất giải pháp (chính sách xã hội).
Cách tiếp cận: Đề xuất 2–3 nhóm giải pháp (regulation, workplace culture, community services), đưa ví dụ cụ thể để tăng tính thuyết phục. Dùng proven effective, embed into, shared social infrastructure.
Từ vựng: burnout (kiệt sức nghề nghiệp), early warning signs (dấu hiệu cảnh báo sớm), peer support groups (nhóm hỗ trợ đồng đẳng), sustainable progress (tiến bộ bền vững).
Governments and employers could pursue a combination of regulation, investment, and cultural change to tackle stress at its roots. Legislating maximum working hours and guaranteeing paid mental health leave, for instance, have proven effective in several European countries at reducing burnout. Employers, meanwhile, can embed mental health support into workplace culture by training managers to recognise early warning signs and by offering flexible arrangements. Investment in community-based services — counselling, peer support groups, and school programmes — is equally important for reaching people before crises develop. Ultimately, sustainable progress requires treating mental health not as an individual responsibility but as a shared social infrastructure.
